Temple Historyमंदिर का इतिहासఆలయ చరిత్ర

Koteshwar Mahadev Temple is an ancient Shiva temple located at the westernmost edge of India in Kutch district, near the Indo-Pak border. The temple is believed to have mythological significance connected to the Ramayana period. According to legend, Ravana performed penance to Lord Shiva here and was granted a divine lingam.

It is said that the lingam broke into pieces, forming “Koti” (millions) of lingams, giving the temple its name Koteshwar. Though the present structure has been renovated over time, the site itself is considered ancient. Its unique coastal location overlooking the Arabian Sea adds to its spiritual and scenic importance.
