Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple

Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, making it one of the holiest shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to Shaivite belief, worshipping a Jyotirlinga grants liberation (moksha) and removes negative influences and fears.

Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple is one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva in India. It holds immense religious importance in Shaivism and is mentioned in ancient Hindu scriptures such as the Shiva Purana. The temple is believed to be associated with the legend of a demon named Daruka, who imprisoned Shiva’s devotee Supriya. Lord Shiva appeared to protect his devotee and manifested as a Jyotirlinga here.

The present temple structure is relatively modern, though the site itself is considered ancient. Located between Dwarka and Bet Dwarka, it attracts thousands of pilgrims every year. Being one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, it is regarded as one of the holiest Shiva shrines in the country.

Maha Shivratri is the most important festival celebrated at Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple. Thousands of devotees gather to offer prayers, perform night-long worship, and participate in special abhisheks and aartis. The temple remains open for extended hours, and devotees chant “Om Namah Shivaya” throughout the night.

Other important occasions include Shravan month (July–August), when devotees perform special jalabhishek rituals, and Kartik Purnima. During these periods, the temple witnesses heavy footfall and a spiritually vibrant atmosphere.
