Aboutमंदिर के बारे मेंఆలయం గురించి

Banke Bihari Temple is one of the most sacred pilgrimage destinations in the Braj region and is especially revered by followers of the Vaishnav tradition. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna in his enchanting youthful form, inspiring devotees to cultivate pure love, devotion and surrender.

The temple is renowned for its distinctive traditions, including the intermittent curtain darshan and the absence of a daily Mangala Aarti. These customs, together with the temple's deep association with Swami Haridas and the devotional culture of Vrindavan, make it one of the most visited Krishna temples in India.

Temple Historyमंदिर का इतिहासఆలయ చరిత్ర

Banke Bihari Temple is one of the most revered Krishna temples in India and is closely associated with the great saint and musician Swami Haridas, a prominent devotee of Lord Krishna and the guru of the legendary musician Tansen. According to tradition, Swami Haridas performed intense devotion at Nidhivan, where Lord Krishna and Goddess Radha appeared before him. At the request of devotees, the divine form manifested as the idol now worshipped as Banke Bihari Ji.

The present temple was built in 1864 by the followers of Swami Haridas in the traditional Rajasthani style. The deity's name, "Banke Bihari," means the charming Lord who stands in a graceful three-fold (tribhanga) posture. A unique feature of the temple is that a curtain is drawn across the deity every few moments during darshan, reflecting the belief that the Lord's captivating presence is so powerful that devotees become completely absorbed in divine love.
