Hanuman Garhi Temple holds immense religious significance because Lord Hanuman is believed to have protected Ayodhya from this very location after Lord Rama's coronation. Devotees consider it auspicious to seek Lord Hanuman's blessings here before visiting Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, believing that he grants permission for a successful pilgrimage.

The temple is also admired for its fort-like architecture, panoramic views of Ayodhya and centuries-old spiritual traditions. It serves as a major center for Hanuman worship and remains one of the most visited temples in Uttar Pradesh.

Hanuman Garhi Temple is one of the most revered temples in Ayodhya and is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Situated on a hilltop in the Ramkot area, the temple is believed to be the place where Lord Hanuman lived while guarding Ayodhya after the return of Lord Rama from Lanka. Because of this belief, devotees traditionally visit Hanuman Garhi before offering prayers at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi.

The present temple is considered to have been developed several centuries ago under the patronage of local rulers and saints. Built in the style of a fortified monastery, the temple is reached by climbing 76 stone steps. The main sanctum enshrines a small but highly revered idol of Bal Hanuman seated on the lap of his mother, Goddess Anjani. The temple continues to be an important center of devotion, attracting pilgrims throughout the year.

Road: The temple is easily accessible by road from all parts of Ayodhya. Auto-rickshaws, taxis and cycle-rickshaws are readily available.

Hanuman Jayanti is the grandest festival celebrated at Hanuman Garhi Temple. Thousands of devotees visit the temple to seek the blessings of Lord Hanuman through special aartis, devotional singing, recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa and distribution of prasad. The temple is beautifully decorated with flowers and lights, creating a vibrant spiritual atmosphere.

Other important festivals celebrated include Ram Navami, Diwali, Dussehra, Deepotsav and Kartik Purnima. During these occasions, the temple witnesses large gatherings of pilgrims who participate in religious ceremonies, bhajans and community prayers.
