Temple Historyमंदिर का इतिहासఆలయ చరిత్ర

Shakumbhari Devi Temple is one of the most revered Shakti temples in northern India and is located in the Shivalik Hills of Saharanpur district. Dedicated to Goddess Shakumbhari, a compassionate manifestation of Goddess Durga, the temple has been an important centre of pilgrimage for centuries. Devotees from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab and Delhi visit the shrine throughout the year.

According to the Devi Bhagavata Purana and temple tradition, Goddess Shakumbhari appeared during a severe drought to nourish humanity by producing vegetables, fruits and herbs, thereby restoring life on Earth. The name "Shakumbhari" is derived from the Sanskrit word "Shaka," meaning vegetables. The temple is regarded as a Siddha Peeth and has long been associated with devotion to the Divine Mother. Although the shrine has undergone renovations over time, it continues to preserve its ancient religious traditions.
