Ashtabhuja Devi Temple is one of the most sacred shrines in Vindhyachal and is situated on a hill overlooking the town. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Ashtabhuja Devi, the eight-armed form of Goddess Durga, and is regarded as an important centre of Shakti worship in northern India. It forms one of the three principal temples of the sacred Vindhyachal Trikon Parikrama, together with Vindhyavasini Devi Temple and Kali Khoh Temple.

According to the Devi Bhagavata Purana and long-standing temple tradition, after escaping from the hands of King Kansa, Goddess Yogamaya manifested in the Vindhya region in her divine eight-armed form. Since then, devotees have worshipped the Goddess at this hilltop shrine as a protector and bestower of courage and prosperity. The temple has remained an important pilgrimage destination for centuries and attracts large numbers of devotees throughout the year, especially during Navratri.
