Temple Historyमंदिर का इतिहासఆలయ చరిత్ర
Shri Bateshwar Nath Temple forms the principal shrine of the historic Bateshwar Temple Complex situated on the banks of the Yamuna River in Agra district. The complex consists of a continuous row of more than one hundred temples, most of which are dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is regarded as one of the most significant Shaivite pilgrimage centres in Uttar Pradesh and has attracted devotees for many centuries.
Historical and archaeological evidence indicates that many of the present temples were built or substantially renovated between the 8th and 10th centuries CE under the Gurjara-Pratihara rulers, although the site itself is believed to have been a sacred place of worship long before that period. Over the years, several temples suffered damage due to flooding and natural deterioration, and extensive conservation work has been carried out by the Archaeological Survey of India. Today, the temple complex remains an important destination for pilgrims, historians and visitors interested in India's architectural heritage.
